Peace, one and all…

I wrote these poems during my journey to work this morning.  Today was the last substantive lecture of my introduction to Islam course, on Sufism.  Given this, I was in a particularly reflective mood this morning.  Insha Allah, this will have rubbed off on my poems (though I make no promises).
Your Soul [...]

Peace, one and all…

Here are some of my most recent poetic reflections.  I wrote these over the last couple of days, or so.  This evening’s theme is praise of the Beloved.  Ya Rabbi!
Your Hand Upon My Heart
It’s the way the sunlight
kisses these window panes,
that tells of Your eye upon me.
And it’s that gentle breath of [...]

Peace, one and all…

I wrote the following poem this evening, whilst driving along the M5 motorway from Leicester to Merthyr Tydfil.  This evening was gloriously sunny and this is what inspired me.  May the Beloved accept this small offering in sincerity.
A Sama’ of Quiet Longing
The sun set as a fiery jewel
amidst the silvering heart of [...]

Peace, one and all…

Here are my latest poetic reflections.  As usual, all of them were written on the train, going to and from work.  With the recent arrival of good weather, my thoughts and hence poems, have turned to spring.  This explains recent references to blossom and the like!
At any rate, I hope you enjoy [...]

Peace, one and all…

Welcome to my poetry blog.  This is my cyberspace home, and as with my earthly home, please come in, kick off your shoes, relax and unwind.  Then, once you feel the need to move on, you can do so refreshed.
Here are my latest poetic reflections.  Enjoy, and may the Beloved bless them [...]

Peace, one and all…

I’ve been rather busy this week, so I’ve not had time to post anything.  Well, here I am now to correct that oversight!  This evening’s offerings all explore themes of life and love.  Enjoy and may the Beloved grant me purity of intention and strength of love.

Peace, one and all…

These poems are my latest reflections on this crazy thing called life.  They were written during the last few days, mostly on trains and buses.  There’s something very profound about travelling.  I suppose it’s about an enforced restfulness, a time when there’s nothing else to do except look out of the window.
At [...]

Peace, one and all…

During the last week, I’ve been writing a fair bit of poetry.  It must be the recent change of weather.  Perhaps the coming of spring has at last roused me from slumber?
At any rate, here are some of my most recent poetic reflections.  Broadly speaking, the theme is one of education, of [...]

Peace, one and all…

This morning’s poetic reflections all begin with the subject of trust.  Trusting in Divine Generosity is this month’s theme of the Threshold Society, and so these poems are my attempts to explore this important issue.  I posted some (rather rambling) thoughts on this topic at Abdur Rahman’s Corner.
Enjoy, and I hope that you find [...]

Peace, one and all…

Here are some further poetic offerings.  Enjoy, and may Allah make them beneficial.
Though My Words May Please You
Though my words may please you,
I am less than I appear.
These poems come from my inner Self,
that hidden pearl,
that secluded garden,
and though I share them freely,
I must learn the lessons they teach.
All that I have [...]
