Peace, one and all…
I wrote this poem a couple of days ago, on my way to work. The recent warm weather has cast the South Wales Valleys in an entirely different light and so travelling to work has been especially enjoyable. Al hamdu lillah.
Anyway, enjoy and may Allah accept them from me in sincerity.
The Mountains [...]
Peace, one and all…
Welcome to The Corner Reloaded, Abdur Rahman’s very own poetry blog.
I’ve been rather inactive on this front in recent weeks, for one reason and another. So, let me correct that now, insha Allah! Here are a couple of poems I wrote recently.
Enjoy and may the Beloved make them useful.
We Are Plants
Never devalue [...]
Peace, one and all…
Welcome to my virtual home, The Corner Reloaded, an oasis of calm reflection amidst the storms of life! Well, it’s my own blog space at any rate. As for calm reflection, I’ll leave you to judge for yourselves.
Today’s offerings are rather longer than much of what I’ve written of late. I’ve found [...]
Peace, one and all…
Ahlan wa sahlan and welcome to The Corner Reloaded, Abdur Rahman’s very own poetry blog.
Here are two of my most recent poems. I wrote them yesterday on the way home from work. Yesterday was a very beautiful day here: windswept and sunny, with the faint memory of rain (never very far away [...]
Peace, one and all…
Welcome to The Corner Reloaded, another of Abdur Rahman’s homes in cyberspace.
Here is my latest poetic reflection. This poem plays with the idea that beauty exists everywhere, even in the most mundane of places and times. It’s all there for us, already. We just have to open our eyes to see such things.
I [...]
Peace, one and all…
Here’s my latest poetic offering. I wrote this one as I was standing in the rain on sunday evening. Enjoy, and may Allah make accept it from me as the sincere offering of these unworthy hands.
Eden in Halflight
Have you ever stood
in the midnight rain
beneath the orange glow
of a flickering lamppost?
Drops of rain [...]
Peace, one and all…
I wrote the following two poems this evening, on my way home from work. Both poems reflect on themes of difference and disagreement, and what these mean to us as we walk through life. At any rate, I hope you enjoy and may God make them beneficial.
The Only Certainty
The only certainty,
in this [...]
Peace, one and all…
Now that I’ve finished posting the back catalogue, here are today’s poetic reflections. I hope you enjoy them, and may God make them beneficial.
The Beloved’s Larger Sky
Each child of Adam
is a world in their own right,
and as each planet
in heaven’s fair field,
has an axis round which it moves,
so the human being
orbits the [...]
Peace, one and all…
Although, as is perhaps obvious, I am a Muslim, I don’t often post poetry in praise of Prophet Muhammad (alaihi al-salatu wa al-salam). This is not because I haven’t written any, but rather because most of my efforts are unworthy.
Having said that, I wanted to post this short poem of praise. This [...]
Peace, one and all…
Welcome to The Corner Reloaded, Abdur Rahman’s experimental poetry blog. For first time visitors, my main blog is Abdur Rahman’s Corner, which you are more than welcome to visit at your leisure.
Here are some of my more recent poetic reflections. These offerings are something of this week’s ‘back catalogue’. At any rate, [...]
